Frequently Asked Questions

  • I've been a web developer since the dial-up days. (If you don't remember dial-up, it was a long, long time ago...) I took a 6-month certification program to learn web design, code, and graphics and loved it so much, I ended up quitting my day job. Back then we didn't have cascading style sheets (CSS), HTML 5, or universal browser support so I went out and learned PHP so I could write server side code to make my designs less dependent on web browsers.

  • In most cases, yes. There are a lot of things that can break a website, but when you've been building websites as long as I have, you can usually narrow it down pretty quickly. Unless you've been doing a lot of tinkering and have multiple things causing problems, it's usually a matter of tracking down the broken code and fixing it. And if that's not possible, I can restore your site to the last working version. (Assuming you've been doing backups...)

  • It may sound counterintuitive to a generation who grew up with WordPress, but it's super easy to build a static html website. Most websites follow a similar format so I can start with a generic template and fill in the blanks. All I need to do is tweak the style sheets, add graphics, and the customer's own content.

  • No. Kindle is a framework designed to deliver a reader experience similar to a paperback or hard cover book on Amazon's web app. The e-books I design and format are typically more like lookbooks for a business's products or services. They can also be a compilation of content used for client or employee onboarding, website downloads and giveaways.
